Naïve Theatre performed at puppet festivals in Canada

After the great reception at the guest performance in Chicago, USA in January, the Naïve Theatre Liberec went overseas again to perform at two international puppet festivals in Canada in early March.

The first one was the Casteliers festival in Montreal, Quebec, which saw puppet companies from three continents (North America, Europe, and Asia). The second stop was Ontario and the BRIDGES International Puppet Festiva in Mississauga near Toronto. The Naïve Theatre played eight performances of the award-winning show for the youngest audience Choo. Choo. Whistle. Whoof!

The show Choo. Choo. Whistle. Whoof! ranks among the most successful and award-winning pieces in the Naïve Theatre (the Erik Award for the most inspiring Czech puppet production). As it is designed for the youngest audiences from two years of age, it is almost wordless, yet full of sounds, moods, and feelings, which makes it a modern language-free production that can be performed worldwide. In 2019, it was staged by director Michaela Homolová and author Vít Peřina, with Robert Smolík’s set and Filip Homola’s music. It has been an attractive piece at many puppet festivals in Europe and it had been the first time it went overseas this January.
