In Third Hand, Handa Gote returns to puppet theatre following the trail of their production Sapphire Head, a reconstruction of a forgotten puppet project from the 1990s. Now Handa Gote continues their reconstruction efforts, this time with a genre that may not have been a genre at all and probably never existed in the first place. Third Hand is an exploration of the specific visual language of experimental puppetry of the 1990s and an attempt to revive this forgotten micro-genre of surrealist puppet theatre.
The ensemble collaborated with an artist working under the name kosmo_nauty. The musical component consists of two gramophones and a random selection of old gramophone records.

About the company
Since 2005, the Handa Gote Research & Development art group has worked at the intersection of theatre, contemporary dance, the visual arts, music, performance and conceptual art. The ensemble is interested in t post-dramatic and post-spectacular theatre, non-linear narratives and the application of contemporary music and visual arts within theatre. Its performances involve the creative use of technology – both old technology and the most modern technology available. In the majority of their project, the ensemble works with media archaeology, focusing intensely on “small (personal) histories” in works approaching documentary theatre.
