What do you expect from the future?
First, the end of humanity. Then, the end of capitalism.
A naked man appears on the shore of a lake, claiming to have predicted climate change nearly two centuries ago. A family retreats to the mountains for skiing and a snowball fight – because tradition is tradition, even when there’s no snow. A girl runs off into the forest and speaks with sentient tree stumps. A vagabond converses with a fish – in German, of course, since the species exists nowhere else.
Something disappears… vanishes… and reappears – because time and space are layered, allowing things to exist and speak at once.
A magic-realist reflection on the present.
An archaeological probe into our own era, offering a perspective we ourselves might not articulate.
Science fiction about human endemics on Earth – and the entities that have outlived us.
So many genres. So many beautifully absurd worries.
And one radical act – after which nothing remained the same.
About the company
A Studio Rubín is an intimate theatre near Malostranské náměstí, with a nearly 58-year presence on the Czech cultural scene. Known for its progressive dramaturgy, the theatre focuses on authorial and documentary work, continually evolving its artistic voice.
It supports the creation of new theatrical texts that explore urgent social themes through the Author*ka v domě platform, nurtures emerging talents via the RubínLab project, and fosters dialogue between young artists and experienced professionals.
With wit and insight, A Studio Rubín addresses topics often left unspoken – precarious labour, motherhood and work, violence, and ecological grief – through a distinctive style that might, with some exaggeration, be described as dark pop.
