LUSH BLAST: Tasting the Untamed is a dance performance that cuts through the notions of wildness, domestication and vulnerability. Emerging from fieldwork in the Carpathian Wilderness, it transposes ecological, political, and multi-species somatic insights into dense, embodied experience. Performers use their physicality, along with chains, voices, and live electronic music, as landscapes of rage and reciprocity. Shifting between fluid synchronicity, poignant songs and acidic humour, they shape a dramaturgy of vital ritual – a sensual feast and battlefield.
An embodied poetics of empowerment, interdependence, and forest logic, LUSH BLAST is an intimate, challenging, collective work that reclaims power as a vital force rather than a tool of control.
About the company
Alica Minar and Dorota Michalak met at HTZ Berlin in 2019 and began collaborating in 2022. Their work includes co-creating choreography in the LUSH BLAST series and researching for WOODS WON’T VAPORIZE. Rooted in fieldwork and exchanges with scientists, their creative process brings together two distinct artistic practices. Michalak’s approach is anchored in somatics, a fascination with plants and folk music heritage. She shifts attention towards the tactile, aural and energetic aspects of dance. Minar’s work offers a strong visual dimension, with humour and poetry arising from bizarre situations. While exploring burning societal issues, she researches how nudity and costumes distort the reality of the dancing body and its relationship with objects.
