GEO | Perform Czech

Tereza Ondrová’s solo relates her 21-year history of creating and performing at Prague’s PONEC theatre to the geological history of the surrounding landscape and the ground beneath it. GEO brings the overlapping archives of her own body, her repertoire, the history of the theatre and the land it stands on into focus.

Body, building, land. Each with a history. Each with their own rhythm. Each with their own effect on the others. PONEC stands on bedrock shaped 20,000 years ago by the Vltava River, which is now 1 kilometre away. Tereza has been dancing on that bedrock in PONEC for 25 years. The first solo she danced there was set to a symphonic poem inspired by the Vltava River. The choreography currently being researched for GEO is a topography of all these players and layers. Through this dance and with the help of a geophone, the ground below and the body above guide us towards an awareness of the landscape we all inhabit.

About the company

Temporary Collective is a performance-making group. Temporary Collective is dancer Tereza Ondrová and theatre director Petra Tejnorová. We are a duo, bringing together a team of creatives from various disciplines to make performances and create encounters with the public.

Our artistic process is built through dialogue and responds to what challenges us. Recently, our work has dealt with sustainability, loss and geographical narratives, while also exploring the humorous and heartfelt. We are temporary because we do not hold fixed beliefs, preferring to welcome change and practice reinvention in relation to the unknown.

Temporary Collective also includes collaborators Monica Gillette (dramaturg), Sodja Lotker (dramaturg and curator), Julia Pecková (production), Daniela Řeháková (production), Dominik Žižka and Marek Bartoš (video and photo documentation), among others.
