As a teacher, Miloš Horanský has contributed to the education and professional development of many outstanding theatremakers. After 2000, his interest in promoting Czech culture switched primarily to the spoken word. As a member of the Word and Voice association, he has advocated for the general support of spoken word culture at the Poděbrady Days of Poetry festival. The wife of Prof. Horanský, Mrs. Ladislava Horanská, accepted the medal from the Minister of Culture Martin Baxa on 6 December 2022.

Professor Miloš Horanský was born on 14 June 1932 in Velká Bytča, Slovakia. After the establishment of the Slovak State, the family moved to Kroměříž (1939), where Horanský went to basic and high schools. In 1950–1954, he studied theatre directing at DAMU in Prague and JAMU in Brno. In 1968, he was one of the founders and a member of the management of the Club of Committed Non-Party Members. In 1970–1973, he participated in creating the experimental White Theatre along with František Hrdlička and Zdena Bratršovská. He was a director of the Beskydy Theatre in Nový Jičín, Silesian Theatre in Opava, State Theatre in Ostrava, E. F. Burian Theatre in Prague, West Bohemian Theatre in Cheb (he was also the artistic director, F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec (also director of drama), Jaroslav Průcha Theatre in Kladno, and Prague City Theatres. In 1991–1993, he was the artistic director of the ABC Theatre in Prague. He has been teaching at DAMU (Associated Professor since 1993) and was a dean there in 1994–1997. In 1997, he was appointed Professor. He has written several collections of poetry and received the AMU Golden Medal for outstanding education in Czech theatre.
