The Thalia Awards for the past two theater seasons were announced at the National Theatre in Prague

The Thalia Awards were handed out to artists in drama, opera, musical, and dance on the stage of the National Theatre in Prague. The award, which bears the name of one of the Muses, evaluated theatre performances in two seasons because of the pandemic break. More than one Thalia goes to the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec and National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. Saša Rašilov, the actor, received his first Thalia ever, musical performers Hana Fialová and Lumír Olšovský received their second trophies. Honorable awards went to František Němec, Martin Hilský, Galla Macků, and Boleslav Polívka. The 29thThalia Awards organized by the Actors’ Association were aired live on Czech TV.

Best performance - women: Veronika Korytářová (the role of Vlasta Burian in Burian by Tomáš Dianiška, F. X. Šalda Theatre Liberec)


Best performance - men: Saša Rašilov (the role of Borchert v inscenaci My Realm Is from This World by Wolfgang Borchert and Miroslav Bambušek, Studio Hrdinů, Prague)



Best performance - women: Jana Sibera (the role of Manon Lescaut in Jules Massenet’s Manon, National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Ostrava)

Best performance - men: Martin Bárta (the role of Iago in Giuseppe Verdi’s Othello, F. X. Šalda Theatre, Liberec)


Musical, operetta and other musical and drama genres:

Best performance - women: Hana Fialová (the role of Áda Harrisová in Flowers for Mrs Harris, National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Ostrava)


Best performance - men: Lumír Olšovský (the role of Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, J. K. Tyl Theatre, Plzeň)


Ballet, dance and movement theatre:

Best performance - women: Natalia Adamská (the main role in Carmen, National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, Ostrava)


Best performance - men: Sergio Méndez Romero (the role of Him in Solo for Three, Moravian Theatre, Olomouc)


Alternative Theatre:

Nela H. Kornetová (the performance in Badman, T.I.T.S. in ALTA Studio, Prague)


Puppet theatre:Gustav Hašek (the role of Matěj Kopecký in Brothers of Hope, Minor Theatre, Prague)


Award for the Lifetime Achievement: Veronika Forejtová – drama, František Němec – drama, Libuše Márová – opera, Libuše Králová – ballet, Galla Macků - operetta and musical, Boleslav Polívka – alternative theatre


Czech Theatre Academy Award: Martin Hilský (for his translations of Shakespeare’s works)


Award for Young Artist up to 33 years of age:Dalibor Buš (Goose on the String Theatre, Brno)


Thalia Award for the Distribution of Theatre Art in TV: Viktor Polesný (director)
