State Opera performances to be staged in the Music Theatre Karlín this season again

The performances of the State Opera in Prague will be staged in the Music Theatre Karlín in 2019 as well. The National Theatre managing the State Opera made another contract with the theatre in Karlín. State Opera buildings are under reconstruction and they should be open at the end of next year.

Reconstruction of the opera house began last year and according to the National Theatre management, the deadline is the end of 2019. The price of reconstruction is about one billion CZK. Opera reconstruction is the first reconstruction of a great theatre that belongs to the state since 1989. The last big reconstruction of the State Opera took place in the 1970s.
