A gripping documentary-style theatre production, Transport: Tipping Point, places the audience at the very centre of a courtroom drama. On the defendant’s bench sits a representative of one of the world’s largest energy corporations, accused of complicity in one of the most devastating environmental disasters of our time. An explosion on an oil rig exposes the fragility of our systems, the unchecked power of fossil fuel giants, and the deadly entanglement of greed and systemic negligence.
Still, the performance is more than a reconstruction of the largest environmental catastrophe in U.S. history. It is a reflection on a world where nature struggles to survive under the relentless logic of capital. Transport: Tipping Point raises urgent questions: Who is responsible for consequences that reverberate across the globe? What role do we ourselves play? How do our everyday habits, patterns of consumption and dependence on industrial systems help enable such disasters?
Combining documentary material, audiovisual storytelling and live performance, Transport: Tipping Point opens a dialogue on global transport, human needs, trade, fossil fuels, corporate interests and the environment. Challenging audiences to confront their own responsibility, it invites reflection on the steps we can take toward sustainable living and a more conscious relationship with the natural world.
Transport: Tipping Point premiered in the Czech Republic at Alfa Theatre on 19 September 2025 and in Charleville-Méziéres, France, on 24 September 2025.
About the company
Alfa Theatre’s dramaturgy includes an exploration of alternative puppetry approaches to classic titles and authorial theatre. In addition to creating productions for the youngest audience, the theatre’s artists are working to reach demanding teenage audiences. European projects are part of this strategy and, in recent years, have included successful productions performed at home and abroad: The Journey of Good Hans Böhm through Europe (2020), Čáslavská – Tokyo – 1964 (2024) and Transport: The Turning Point (2025). Thanks to its masterful work with puppets, Alfa is a sought-after guest at many domestic and foreign festivals. Since 1967, the Alfa Theatre has organised the Skupova Pilsen International Festival of Puppet and Alternative Theatre.
