Theatre Critics Awards 2023

The production of the year was Euripides’ play The Bacchae, staged by the National Theatre under the direction of Jan Frič. The prizes are awarded based on a survey of the magazine Svět a divadlo, this year 66 theater critics voted.

In the non-awarded category “The Greatest Foreign Theatre Experience”, the production Spartacus: Love in the Time of Plague by Weronika Murek and Jakub Skrzywank, staged by Teatr Współczesny w Szczecinie under the direction of Jakub Skrzywank, took first place in the poll. The production was first seen at the NOVÁ KOMEDIE festival and then at the Theatre World Brno 2023 festival.
