The World Congress and General Assembly organized by the International Association of Theater Critics AICT / IATC is hosted in the Czech Republic by PerformCzech / Arts and Theatre Institute in cooperation with the National Theatre Brno, Theatre World Brno Festival and the Czech AICT Centre with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture Czech Republic, the National Recovery Plan, and Generation After.

In connection with the congress, which will take place in the Mozart Hall of the Reduta Theater, there will also be a conference on the topic “Truth” in the Kafkaesque World of Theater – Tragic or Comic? and presentation of the Thalia Award to Prof. Dr. Erica Fischer-Lichte for lifetime contribution to the field of theatre.

The congress includes a general assembly and the presentation of the Thalia Award to a nominated personality for contribution to the field of theatre. The presentation of the award to the prominent German theatre scholar Erica Fischer-Lichte will take place on May 23, the day of the opening of the Theatre World Brno festival, at the Reduta Theatre of the National Theatre Brno from 5:30 p.m.

Selected papers to be heard at the conference “Truth” in the Kafkaesque World of Theater – Tragic or Comic? will subsequently be published in the online magazine Critical Stages/Scènes critiques in December 2024. The program during the festival also includes the organization of a workshop for twenty students of criticism from abroad.
