Czech, Slovak, Polish, Austrian and Hungarian artists reflected on the centenary of the independence of Central European states by inhabiting the intimate rooms, terrace and garden of Bajor Gizi Actors’ Museum with their performances. The audience, enchanted by the atmosphere of the venue, freely wondered between the dance pieces, performances, video and music installations of Miřenka Čechová, Sabina Bočková, Johana Pocková, Martin Tvrdý, Aldina Michelle Topcagic, Stanislav Dobák, Monika Drozyńska and Zsolt Sőrés. The event was followed by a discussion with Zuzana Uličianska (Theatre Institute of Bratislava), Judit Galácz (Hungarian Theatre Museum and Instute) and the performers, moderated by Attila Szabó. The focus was on the museum as an inspirational ambience for the performing arts and on the historical background of the event, the avant-garde years of the interwar period – a decisive common heritage of the region’s artists.

Too Soon Too Late is part of the cycle “1918, European Dreams of Modernity – 100 Years On” prepared by the Brussels cultural centre BOZAR for 2018 in association with cultural institutes, or permanent representations and local partners in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Romania, and Lithuania. This project is a co-production that includes artists from seven countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Belgium, it is coordinated by the Arts and Theatre Institute in Prague and an artistic and technical team formed by reknowned Czech artists. The project was supported in frame of the grant programme of the International Visegrad Fund.
