Theatre „Divadlo pod Palmovkou“ has been among the most successful and popular Czech theatres for quite some time. It was founded by a group of young theatre enthusiasts in 1948. Throughout its history the theatre has focused on grand stories, staging both classical and contemporary plays as well as pieces by authors of the respective generations. In 2016, Divadlo pod Palmovkou held the first PalmOFF Fest, a singularly successful festival of Central European theatre and culture, featuring top-tier groups from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and especially Poland.
