The show featuring two choreographies was inspired by Mauro Bigonzetti’s Rossini Cards and it is literary a “dance feast”. Bigonzetti is an avid fan of Gioacchino Rossini and he used some of the most popular pieces for his choreography. The Italian Romantic composer was a great gourmet – he loved to cook and eat. Bigonzetti’s work is a tribute to Rossini’s hobby, including the composer’s favorite spaghetti recipe. The program is complemented by the existential-like Consequence by Spanish choreographer Juanjo Argués. Rossini Cards premiered in Ostrava in November 2019 and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre will play it on 25 May for the last time. The ballet company won the Best Collective Performance Award at the Czech and Slovak Showcase Ballet 2019, Rita Pires and Koki Nishioka were shortlisted for the Thalia Awards 2020 for their solo performances.

The company was invited to Israel thanks to the recommendation from the choreographer Itzik Galili. He is planning to return to Ostrava next season as he is going to be part of the production team of Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen. Galili has also helped the NMST acquire the representation of the local agency for touring in other countries.
