Enola

obr

Aerial acrobatics, physical theatre, paper

Inspired by the hibakusha (survivors of the bomb attack on Hiroshima), the legend of the thousand cranes and Japanese aesthetics, Enola is most of all about what comes to your mind during the show. Each of us has our own little war, our own tragedy.

Each of us has unrealised dreams, but, deep inside, we still hope that maybe…it’s just necessary to complete one thousand tasks. 1000 good deeds, 1000 pull-ups, washing the floor 1000 times…? We are each our own tasks, and so we make our own infinite imprints for the time it takes us to understand that it’s better to watch from above.

About the company

Eliška Brtnická graduated from the department of non-verbal theatre at HAMU in Prague, where she continues her PhD studies. In 2010, she founded Cirkus Mlejn. In 2017, she attended a course on circus dramaturgy at the prestigious French school CNAC. She often works with the artists Ilona Jäntti and Stéphanie N’Duhirahe. In recent years, she has leaned towards a visual arts conception of her performances (including cooperation with sculptor Čestmír Suška) as well as to site-specific performance. In 2018 her project Opticon was pre-selected for the CircusNext platform. She is the program director of the Fun Fatale International Festival.
