Lunch at Wittgenstein (Ritter Dene Voss)

obr

What cannot be spoken of, can only be shown – thus might we paraphrase the proposition by philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein that inspired Thomas Bernhard, one of Austria’s most significant authors, to write his play Ritter, Dene, Voss, adapted here as Lunch at Wittgenstein.

Three siblings epitomise the essence of the entire world, bringing to light their small, private hells, past injustices and the shadows of dead ancestors. This compelling psychological drama for three superb actors who have often been overlooked by Czech theatres provides a great opportunity to win over the National Theatre’s audiences to contemporary international art.

About the company

The National Theatre’s Drama Ensemble is the largest company of its kind in the Czech Republic. In our programming, we strive to include works of the classical and contemporary Czech and international repertoires, as well as original projects and Czech premieres. Our productions are visually compelling and exquisitely staged. We produce eight new productions a year, while also pursuing a host of accompanying activities, including educational programmes and the international festival Prague Crossroads.
