Hartig Ensemble to Celebrate 25 Years since its Founding

Hartig Ensemble is a professional company, which specializes in period dances and ballet repertoire of past centuries under the supervision of dance historian and choreographer Prof. Helena Kazárová.

The company has performed at many concerts with dance and shows for the general public. The dancers have acted in Baroque operas and ballet shows in the Czech Republic and abroad. It is an activity full of discoveries because the company brings to life dances from archives and records in various dance notations. The ballet activity is based on period librettos, scores and motion aesthetics.

Hartig Ensemble works with period music companies of the highest quality, for instance, the Baroque orchestra Musica Florea with which Hartig Ensemble has revived works by Beethoven, Gluck, Händel, Mozart, Praupner, Purcell, Rebel, Starzer, and others.

At the end of last year, Hartig Ensemble z.s. published the book The Beauty of Dance in Time with Libor Sváček’s photos depicting the past ten years of its artistic work. The book was published by MCU publishing and is bilingual. The author of the texts is Helena Kazárová and, apart from the aesthetics of the past centuries, you can also find synopses of staged works and behind-the-scenes of the rehearsals of historically informed performances.
