Taneční aktuality is launching an open call for papers for the 2022 Special Edition focused on TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE DANCING BODY

We are looking for authors and draft articles addressing current issues and exploring the subject of the human body and its reflection in the field of dance and movement.

Following the covid pandemic and global panic, it became hard to maintain a healthy mind in a healthy body, especially for those who use their bodies not only as the main source of livelihood, but also as a means of artistic expression. We witnessed disconnection from physical experience, the rethinking of sensory perception, digitalisation of dance and objectification of the body.
Now we want to refocus on the essence of the human body, its possibilities and capacities within our art, and the shifting perceptions of the body on stage.

It is possible to submit texts that tackle the issue of changing perspectives on the body in terms of:

  • health
  • gender
  • age
  • race and ethnicity
  • psychosomatics and dance therapy
  • movement language
  • language of reflection of the body in dance
  • nudity
  • aesthetics
  • and others

Texts in Czech and English (5–10 standard pages) will be published in a bilingual mutation and undergo a thorough editing and revision process. Each author will receive a reward of 2500-5000 CZK, depending on the length of their contribution.

The submission deadline for abstracts and drafts is 15th November 2021. Abstracts of 150‑300 words can be submitted in Czech or English, in doc format by email to lucie.h@tanecniaktuality.cz. Selected authors will be contacted by 30th November 2021.

Submission deadline for full articles is 31st January 2022.

The revision stage is scheduled for February 2022, the editing for March and April 2022. The translation and authorisation stage will take place in April and May 2022, and typesetting and final proofreading will happen in summer 2022. The estimated publication date is September 2022.

The 2022 Special Edition will be distributed across the Czech Republic and Europe via Taneční aktuality’s partner networks, Czech Centres etc.

Project is supported by Ministry of Culture and Special Edition partners.
