Hundreds of people on the Vltava riverbank applauded the National Theatre opera

Hundreds of people on the Vltava riverbank and bridges applauded the National Theatre Opera on 19 June. The National Theatre Orchestra and State Opera Orchestra with soloists presented the opera repertoire of the first Czech stage on the open deck of the Bella Bohemia boat. People on a few places could hear works by Georges Bizet, Gioacchino Rossini, Bedřich Smetana, Georg Friedrich Händel and Julius Fučík. The singers on the deck were Alžběta Poláčková, Aleš Briscein and Svatopluk Sem.

The boat with musicians sailed from the vicinity of the National Theatre and started the music production on the first stop between Střelecký Island and Kampa. The first pieces the audience could hear Poláčková sing famous aria O Moon High Up in the Deep Sky from Dvořák’s Rusalka. Briscein then sang Puccini’s Nessun dorma from Turandot and Sem sang, among others, the Votre toast aria from Bizet’s Carmen.

The next music sail took place on 26 June when the National Theatre music boat was part of the program of the multi-genre festival of United Islands. Musicians along with soloists Jan Sibera and Martin Šrejma presented the program put together by the State Opera music director Karl-Heinz Steffens. He presented famous works composed by international authors. Viewers could enjoy

La donna e mobile from Rigoletto, Triumphal March from Aida, Libiamo from Traviata and other opera hits by Giuseppe Verdi and other authors.
