Burki&Com Participates in SIPA Virtual Festival 2020

Burki&Com, one of well known group of dancers, acrobats, actors and visual artists from Czech Republic participates in Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA) Virtual Festival 2020. Lead by Jana Burkiewiczová since 2015, Burki&Com shows two of their performances entitled “Pink Samurai, The Story of Ferocious Wind” and “The Wilds: The Vanity of Plumage” in SIPA 2020.

Viewers of SIPA Virtual Festival can watch the performances of dancers, musicians, and theater performers from Indonesia and abroad live on SIPA FESTIVAL YouTube Channel at 5 PM until 9 PM (Indonesian) or 12 AM until 4 PM (Czech Republic) on 10, 11, and 12 September 2020. More than 50 performers have shared their video to be live streamed during SIPA 2020. In addition, there will be one live performance from America, six live performances from Indonesia, and live performance from Dory Harsa, the popular singer from Solo who becomes SIPA mascot 2020 on the studio in Solo City, Indonesia that will be live streamed during SIPA 2020 as well.

SIPA is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. We are honored to show two awesome works from Burki&Com in our first virtual festival of SIPA. Arts and Theatre Institute (ATI) of Czech Republic also supports us to make it happen. I do hope that this is the good step for wonderful relationship between Indonesia and Czech Republic through culture.”

“Pink Samurai” is inspired by hero pictures created by children from eleven schools in Prague, Trutnov, Ostrava, Moravská Trebová and Čeladná that depicts the story of us. Jana Burkiewiczová creates an acrobatic and dance quest to find a hero of today. She is the writer, choreographer, and director of “Pink Samurai.”

Jana Burkiewiczová is excited to share two of her performances in SIPA. She mentions, “Pink Samurai is wily new show which will have premiere on September in Prague.”

Jana Burkiewiczová also makes the theme, script, and choreography of “The Wilds.” She leads us into a paradise where dancing creates silence, screams, pleasure and the omen of death in a fast sequence of situations, texts, and images.

SIPA Virtual Festival is a new form of SIPA annual festival which is usually held live on the spectacular stage located in Solo City, Central Java, Indonesia since 2009. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, SIPA is held as a virtual festival. By having virtual festival, SIPA is able to show more performances from national and international dancers, musicians, and theater performers. SIPA loyal spectators reach 40,294 people in 2019. By having virtual festival, SIPA expects more global viewers this year.

SIPA Virtual Festival 2020 also has SIPA Mart that connects the seller and the buyer or presenter of performing arts. Moreover, there are many art works for sell that can be purchased by viewers. SIPA also open donation for retired artists. Before the virtual event is held, SIPA even have tiktok competition via instagram @sipafestival. SIPA Committee expects the good relationship between Indonesia and Czech Republic could be maintained.
