In autumn 1949, the local branch of the Central Puppet Theatre in Prague was established, based on the pre-war amateur puppetry in Liberec, yet it was soon renamed to the Regional Puppet Stage, which became one of the first professional puppet theatres in Czechoslovakia. Since 1986 it bore the name Naïve Theatre, and it has been called Naïve Theatre Liberec since 1991.

The theatre remembers the anniversary also for the viewers with a several-course menu. The mid-November saw early unpacking of a present for young people and adults. The music and visual installation Pouť krkonošská/The Krkonoše Pilgrimage, inspired by Karel Hynek Mácha’s short story and music by the acknowledged duo Kora et le Mechanix, directed by Filip Homola.

Celebrations also include a performance of the Ypsilon Studio from Prague, which is connected with the history of the Native Theatre, as it was established in Liberec, it had a successful career in 1968–1978, and its director Jan Schmid is the author of the name Naïve Theatre. The Gallery under the Liberec Townhall hosts an exhibition Two Anniversaries, where visitors can find stage designs and puppets from old theatre productions, and photographs may help them remember the theatre’s history and the international festival Mateřinka. The exhibition will be in the gallery until 2019.

The birthday program will reach its peak at the Naïve Theatre with invited guests, important personalities from social and cultural life, former employees, theatre professionals, and colleagues from other theatres. The evening programme will also see the launch of two new publications (with Roman Karpaš’s graphic design, mapping both anniversaries and a preview of a one-hour-long Czech TV documentary (ČT Art) called Naïve Theatre Liberec.
