Supernaturals | Perform Czech

Two completely ordinary mortals decide to become superheroes. Can their coexistence remain to be still super?

The uniqueness of the characters in the maelstrom of change, rescue, hypocrisy and attempts to play something that in any case I’m not. There is a physical gripping of the moments of fictional superhuman strength. And there is the heroism in the form of ordinary mortals, who must sometimes draw his secret weapons.

About the artists

Martina Hajdyla Lacová

She graduated from J. L. Bell Conservatory in Banská Bystrica as well as from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Dance Pedagogy Department. In 2008, sheparticipated in a half-year study programme in Hoger Instituut voor Dans in Antwerp, where she worked with an outstanding Belgian choreographer, Ann van den Broek.
From 2006 she has been working with Marta Poláková (SVK), Mirka Eliášová (CZE), Maya M. Carroll (ISR), Ji-Eun Lee (KOR), Šaŕka Ondrišová (SVK), Helene Weinzierl (AUT), Irina Andreeva (RUS), Rasmus Ölme (SWE). She is a founding member of dance group ME-SA (2008), with which she participated in Ediburgh Fringe Festival, among others.

Since 2009 she has been cooperating with the Slovak theatrical company Debris and theNorwegian choreographer Karen Foss, since 2011 with the Swiss company DA MOTUS! and the Czech dance company VerTeDance. She also works as a guest teacher in dance schools and studios over the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2015 she was granted Dance of the Year Award for her performance in SuperNaturals.

Stanislav Dobák

Stanislav studied dance in the Conservatory J. L. Bellu, Slovakia and graduated from P.A.R.T.S. (Performing arts research and training studios) in Brussels, Belgium. Already during his studies at P.A.R.T.S. he performed short piece “Hands” by Ultimavez (Wim Vandekeybus), was part of the creation “SHOCK“ by David Zambrano and circus event KDO! by Franco Dragone. Presently he is involved in more long-term collaboration with the work of Salva Sanchis(ES). He is performing in a creation Soleils by Pierre Droulers (FR) and The Sun Came by Daniel Linehan (USA) In addition to teaching dance workshops, Stanislav is also busy with his own creations, such as collaborations with Peter Šavel, and creating dance pieces of his own for organizations such as Passerelle in Kortrijk, ME-SA in Prague et al..2015 Stanislav will join dance company Rosas, Brussels, Belgium for a remake of a performance Drumming. He is the co-founder of Memoryhouse Productions with collaborator Jamie Lee which launches in 2014 with ‘dreams’ a film and photography installation that will premiere in 2015.

He is also currently studying Bachelor of Photography at IDI/University of Hertfodshire, UK.

ME-SA

ME-SA was established in 2008. The company works as an open platform that combines author’s projects with inviting various guest choreographers both from Czechoslovak dance scene and abroad. In 2013, ME-SA became for the first time part of Aerowaves TOP 20 Priority Companies List thanks to project Much More Than Nothing created by duo Peter Šavel / Stano Dobák. The company got three times the nomination for “Dance Piece of the Year” Award. In 2015, one of ME-SA founders, Martina Hajdyla Lacová, was awarded “Dancer of the Year” Prize for her performance in SuperNaturals, another piece by ME-SA listed at Aerowaves Selection for 2015. ME-SA has presented its projects at various festivals: APAP/NYC, Spring Forward, Czech Dance Platform, Tanec Praha, Edinburg Fringe etc.
